  3. I-Imagination is the key to the movie, if you don’t imagine anything, you will never see what isn’t there.
M-Monte was glad to have someone like Finnegan, because she made him really find himself again.
A-Anything and everything that anyone did would irritate Willow at the beginning of the movie.
G-Going through change with Monte around was a positive influence on all three of the girls.
I-In Monte’s dream, he sees Charlotte and him waltzing under the moonlight.
N-Nothing would be what Finnegan would see if she wouldn’t allow herself to see things that were not there.
A-After Charlotte gets home from the lawyers, he and Monte kiss and then she runs home.
T-The girl’s finding their mom’s diary was a good thing, because it made Willow feel better about her parent’s getting a divorce.
I-In the beginning, Monte wouldn’t write at all, but once Finnegan started talking to him, he decided that it was really what he needed.
O-Once Monte started writing Flora stories about Tony the elephant, Finnegan got upset, because he told her that she had to imagine the end of the book that he wrote.
N-Near the end of the movie, Monte wrote Finnegan the ending of his book, because her copy was missing the last page, and he wanted her to imagine what happened.

  4. ~Be Who You Want To Be~

I met a boy named Carl.
    He was chubby and caring,
    And very daring.
He could be anything he wanted to be.
    So, he chose a bunny.
That I can say was very funny.
I told Carl he could be my sidekick.
That he thought was pretty slick.
So, Carl lost the bunny hop and changed his name.
He was now Diego Santana, that’d go down in fame.
As we strolled into the drug store,
He’d say “Where’s the Slim Jims? I want more!”
I started to notice that Carl wasn’t Carl,
    He was Diego Santana.
I realized I liked Carl, bunny hop and all.
    I told him my thoughts,
And told him he could be anything he wanted to be.
He could even choose to be a bunny.

~ My poem is about Carl, and that he could be whatever he wanted to be. At first Monty didn't realize that, but then I found that he liked the true Carl better, even if it was a boy pretending to be a bunny.

  5. Just Imagine...

Just imagine all your dreams come true,
Just imagine someone else is you.
Just pretend that you've got it all,
Just pretend -let your mind free fall.
    Picture it now,
    All real somehow.
    Your fate,
    Your dream,
    Whoever you are.
    Whoever you will be.
    Whoever you could be.

    Just imagine the success,
Just imagine you're at your best.
    Just lead with your heart.
    Just lead from the start.
    Feel it come rushing,
    Reach into you,
    And hold a part too.
    Send it into the depths
    Of the whitest page.

    Imagine it all.
    Picture it now,
    All real somehow.
    Your fate,
    Your dream,
    Whoever you are.
    Whoever you will be.
    Whoever you could be.

  7. Imagination
    Can take control
    Be powerful
    Lovely thing to have
    Imagination

    Imagination
    Believe
    Take control
    Make it happen
    Imagination

    Imagination
    For everyone
    Can get help to find
    Your inner imagination
    Imagination

    Imagination
    Girls and Boys
    Of all ages
Helps with making a book happen
    Imagination

    Imagination was my topic
Imagination is a powerful thing in this movie, because it makes Finnigan and Montie get closer because of the lessons. It also got them in a fight but they made back up.

  8. It's John Milton once said, "the mind is its own place."
    ~*~
    See with your minds eye.
    ~*~
    Imagination.. the most powerful force
    ever made available to humankind.
    ~*~
Never stop looking for what’s not there.
    ~*~
You tell me to see what's not there why can't you write what's not there?
    ~*~
There are people in life you avoid and others you go out of the way to bump into.
    ~*~
Most times real life doesn't measure up to what's in our heads,
but every now and then it comes pretty close.
    ~*~
In this world, the smallest things make the biggest impressions. Obviously that is exactly what happened in The Magic of Belle Isle.

  9. What if we didn’t follow our passion
What if we didn’t have any goals
    We would be bored
What if we had nothing to do
    What if

What if we didn’t follow our dreams
    How would life be fun
    Life wouldn’t matter
There wouldn’t be any point in it
    What if

    What if
    Life is a what if
What if you didn’t question everything you did
    What if you were lost
    Didn’t have any dreams
    What would you do
    What if

I did this because you need to follow your dreams to pursue anything. If you don't have any dreams you won't have any effort to finish anything. You won't have anything to look forward to.

  10. In our imagination
    chains and binds fade away
and reality is no longer here to stay
    all cultures are forever free
peace and humanity will there ever be

    In our imagination
    the mute can talk
    and the crippled can walk

So what better place to be
than in our imagination we are set free

    Imagination was my topic
In the movie Montie was showing Finnigan how to imagine. He showed her that imagination can be the most powerful thing in the world.

  11. Friends are needed in life
Real life is hard to take sometimes, but friends help make it better
In time, friends will come and go, but good friends last a lifetime
Even friendship is can help you through life
Never should a friend make rude comments or stop your from believing
During hard times, good friends are always there for you
    Sheltering your friends from bullies
Healing your friends when they need you is a part of friendship
In life, friends are what we tell everything to
People need friends to make ideas come to life

I chose friendship as my topic. My poem talks about how important friends are in life, and what they do for you.

  12. Monte moves to Bell Isle for an unknown reason.
Always use your imagination when writing, dreaming, or just thinking
Going back to Mexico (Monte), gets half-way there and decides he can’t leave the O’Neill family
Imagination - the ability for the mind to create something that is not there but can - Monte
Charlotte O’Neill has three girls; they go on a trip to Bell Isle every summer.

Only one person gets Monte to talk at first - Finnegan
Finnegan is told she is “fearless” by Monte by the condition of her pocketknife.

Bell Isle is a park in Detroit
Every hero needs a sidekick and Carl Luke (Diego Sanchez) is Monte (Joule)
Little talk comes from Monte when he first visits.
Little girl, Flora, gets a story for her birthday written by Monte about “Tony the elephant”
Everyone of Monte’s neighbors were his friends

It’s said, (according to Monte) that you can tell a lot from a person based on their pocketknife and its condition.
    Some friendships - Monte : / Charlotte / Finnegan / Flora / Carl Luke / “Spot”
Lonely girls at first because their father left, but Monte healed their pain
Even though the last page was torn out of the last book Monte wrote, Finnegan still bought and read it

  13. Imagination is key.
    Friendships are great,
    but nothing compared to family.

    Families are more than friends.
    They’re always there for you.
    They never let you down.

    Friends are like your family.
    You have friends,
and then you have best friends.

    Imagine if we had nothing.
Never give up on something that’s not there.
You never know what could happen.

    Imagination is key.
    This is real life.
    This is reality.

I kind of got all of the topics, and I put them together. My main topic I would say is imagination because Monte and and Finnigan have very good imaginations. I couldn't really decide which topic, so I put them all together.

  14. The Magic of Belle Isle

Friendship is worth much more than T.V.s
    Much more than cellphones,
    More than any amount.
    It’s priceless.

Friendship is more valuable than diamonds,
    More valuable than rubies,
    And prettier than gold.
    It’s priceless.

    Friends create adventures,
    And memories,
    Things you will never forget.
    And that’s priceless.

There are not words to express how much friendship is worth,
    You can’t explain it,
You just have to believe that friendship is everything,
    And priceless.

The topic for my poem was the value of friendship. Friendship was important in this story because it helped Finnigan become a better sister, and helped Monte leave his drinking ways. Friendship is not only important in the story, but it is also important in real life. Friendship is something that no amount of money can replace, and I sort of used that idea for the topic of my poem.

  15. Man of many words
    Often writes stories about cowboys
Never walks because he’s in a wheelchair
The stories he writes for Flora are very nice
Every story he writes is for someone that inspires him

Mine was kind of about friendship. He writes the stories about elephants because he is friends with the O'Niels.

  16. Friends were things that Monte didn’t have.
Rolled to Belle Isle drunk and depressed.
Inside his house, is dark and full of memories.
    Everyone says he ‘eats worms’.
No one likes him until Finn starts talking to him.
Deciding he is interesting, Finn makes a deal.
She says for him to teach her imagination.
He says for her to tell him what she sees, or what she doesn’t see.
Into the movie, they become close friends, Charlotte, Willow, and Flora begin to like him.
People look up to him and he becomes part of their family.

    &

Forgetting his past is hard, he thinks that he can’t write anymore.
At the end, he writes stories, finishes stories, and finally teaches the dog to get the ball.
Many people are sad when Monte leaves.
Instead of staying away, he comes back.
Love of their new friend and family member flourishes.
You learn the meanings of friendship, family, love, and imagination.

  17. My topic is Pursuing Passions.
    Passion
    Passion is important.
    Passion shows what you love.
In The Magic of Belle Isle Passion is found by the girls.
Finnigan shows the most Passion in the beginning of the movie.
Then she shows Monty that Passion is important to show.
She changes him into what he used to be.

    Friendship is like magic
    it cant be imagined
Its just there and cant be explained
    Its like magic

    Friendship can be bamboozling
    people can trick you
It is hard to find a true friend
    Its like Magic

    Friendship has a mentor
You find someone you look up to
Its like you are each others teachers
    Its like magic

  19. This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
    Where Monte moved in
    And made friends quickly

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
Where he had lost his passion
    And was quite the drunkard

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
Where he met Charlotte and the daughters
    They were quite the joy

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
    Where Monte met Finn O’Neill
He taught her lessons of imagination

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
    Where he helped her
    And she helped him

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
    Where they made a connection
And grew to be great friend

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
    Where he found his romance
    And she found hers

    This is the Magic
    The Magic of Belle Isle
Where Monte got his passion back

Monte is a man of his word
    On top of everything
New to Belle Island, and shows every kindness
Tony the Elephant is one of his greatest stories
Encourage to write because of Finn

The topic I picked was what is the value of human kindness? I picked this because Finn encouraged Monte to start writing again. The first line of my poem is Monte is a man of his word. This shows human kindness because it shows that he is very trustworthy, and he can always keep his word no matter what the circumstance is.

    Us being one again.
    But it can’t be.
    Because I imagined it.

    I imagined it.
Feeling the sand of that island.
    I imagined it.
    Him helping me get there.
    But it can’t be.
    Because I imagined it.

    I imagined it.
    Things about our neighbor.
    I imagined it.
    Him being a friend.
    But it can’t be.
    Because I imagined it.

    I imagined it.
    I imagined it all.
It was all in my head.
    All a dream.

    Nothing happened that summer.
    There was no magic.
    Because I imagined it.

  23. Sitting, Thinking, Writing
    Imagination is key
    Friendship is another thing
    Finnigan is lost and confused
    Monte has all the clues
    Along their journey
They learn to share their thoughts
    Along their journey
    Imagination is never lost

    Topic(imagination, friendship)
I thought it would be fun to rhyme and make it about what most of the movie was about.

  24. Mostly sad and not wanting to keep going.
only Finigan got him to see the light.
    not a very good teacher.
    the man was a writer.
ended up that he was a sweet man.

Well willed and didn’t want to give into writing again.
    ill willed
    let things get to him
didn’t want to leave the island
helped the meltel child on the island feel special.
old fashioned, he wanted everything he had to be old west style.
    respectful of people
not a very good peoples person.

Monte Wildhorn- I choose him because I thought he was a very unique charactor. He lived in his story's as well as his own life.

  25. Family is important, whether it’s family or friends.
Whenever you get into a fight, you’re always able to make amends.
They put a smile on your face, whenever you wear a frown.
They always lift you up when you are falling down.
They are always there when things are rough,
And stick to your side when things get tough.
They make life a little easier to take,
The bond that is created, never will it break.
The O’Neil family was a little torn,
But Mr. Wildhorn came and it was restored.
He was there for the family, and always made them smile,
That is what you’ll find, on the Magic of Belle Isle.

Topic: Family and Friends - I chose this because it was one that I could write about it easily and it is a really strong topic to write about.

  26. I imagination is seeing whats not there

M making up Tony for Flora because she loves elephants

A a raft that Finnigin made to sail to the island where she finds her mothers old lunch box with all her notes and her diary

G getting Spot to fetch was a long task but eventually Spot learned how

I In the end of the book Monty and Charlotte fell in love

N none of the girls really liked monty at first but once they got to know him they eventually liked him and became friends

A at first nobody really talked to Carol so his mother asked if Monty would call him once

T teaching Finnigin about imagination gave him his legs back

I in his dream him and Charlotte danced in the moonlight

O one kiss from Charlotte lets Monty know she likes him

N now that Monty left he realizes that he wants to buy the house and takes Spot in as his own

topic: imagination - i chose this because this is what helped Monty get his legs back and teach Finnigin and because i use my imagination and make up a bunch of stuff in my head.

    Made the next-door neighbors happy
O’Neal’s were scared of him at first
Never completely gave up his passion for writing
    Turned down alcohol after awhile
Ended up being a very nice old man

Wanted to leave for Mexico, but he came back
    Important to the O’Neal family
Last page to his new story got finished
Drank constantly because of his depression
His passion for writing led him to stay
O’Neal’s both taught and learned a lot from him
    Realized life was good
    Never gave up on life

  28. What makes a home? A family?

I chose what makes a home, a family because I feel like the main part of this movie was all the characters making their family. In my poem I tried to list all the traits shown in the movie on what makes a family.

Believing in your child, and your child believing in you.
Everyone cooperates and works out their problems.
Loving each other no matter what happens.
Living life the right way, and showing your children how to live their life the right way.
Enjoying the little things as much as the big things.

Irregular events happen, so don’t freak out about them. Learn from them.
Smiling during the good times, and surviving through the bad times.
Laughing and having a fun time.
Every home has a story, it’s up to you and your family to make yours.

  29. I did the impact of imagination, because I feel like this story was basically about how using your imagination can take you anywhere, and it can bring you together; just like it did for Monte and Finnigan.

    F lowering into potential...
I magination can change your world in an instant.
N othing can stamp it out.
N othing can hold it back.
I f you share it, you can change someone else’s world
G ives you the power to take someone to another world.
A gainst common belief, imagination impacts everyone--it doesn’t matter where you’re from, or who you are.
N o one can tell you not to use your imagination-- you can create whatever you want with the wonder of your mind
